Sun salutes work the triceps, biceps, and shoulders, giving a toned look to the arms without too much bulk.

Yoga Workout:

Perform 8 reps of each movement. Hold for 8 breaths (In & Out Counts as 1)

Kate says she traded in her 3-2-1 gym routine for yoga, due to a back injury, her age and also because she says:

I’d grown particularly sick of being photographed outside a gym doing a squat with a medicine ball.

As she got older, Beckinsale was looking for something that would tone her arms, legs and abs without all the equipment, or need to go out in pubic. That was her motivation for turning to Yoga.

Beckinsale’s trainer, Mandy Ingber, says:

Muscle burns more calories that fat does, so we change the ratio of stored fat to lean muscle mass. That means you are burning more calories, even when you are standing in line at the grocery store.

In addition to Yoga, Mandy Ingber often has Kate Beckinsale do cardio. Running on the treadmill helps burn fat. This complements the muscle-building, core shaping Yoga moves Kate does.

Ingber calls Beckinsale one of her most devoted clients. They do Yoga together five times a week. For her arms and abs, Kate Beckinsale loves to do Sun Salutes and Plank Poses. She also does Chair Pose and Tree Pose for her glutes and legs.
