JLo Workout Routine
The JLo workout routine, by Tracy Anderson, is a split between:
- Pilates Exercises by Tracy Anderson (30-60 min)
- Weight Training / Toning (30 min)
- Dance Exercises / Dance Rehearsals (2-4 hours)
Jennifer Lopez spends 1-1.5 hours a day on Pilates and weight training. When Jennifer Lopez gets in the spirit of her workouts, she says feels like:
A fighter, going into the ring. I do my cardio, and I do my workouts with the Tracy Anderson Method.
The rest of the time is dedicated to her greatest passion–dancing. JLo uses many of the dance routines made by Tracy. The former Fly Girl spends the majority of her time working on her own dance routines. JLo told Us Weekly:
You got to work out, you got to watch what you eat. It’s a job. You’ve got to buckle down.

JLo Pilates Routine
The JLo Pilates routine is formulated by Lopez’ trainer, Tracy Anderson. Tracy Anderson refers to these as her Metamorphosis Program. Here are some Metamorphosis workout videos, done by JLo’s trainer, Tracy Anderson:
Start by doing as many reps as you can comfortably of each exercise. Jennifer Lopez aims for at least 20 reps minimum, of each exercise. If you’re looking to get the greatest benefit, you can add arm or ankle weights to the Pilates routine.
Jennifer Lopez spends at least an hour per day with her trainer, Tracy Anderson. After having babies, it wasn’t easy for JLo to just get back in shape. But, JLo got the job done, as her trainer says:
Jennifer has an insane ability to move and connect with her body. Jennifer knows what it feels like to be in what she calls ‘fighting shape.’ And after twins, it doesn’t just come back.
JLo Toning Routine
JLo usually spends 30 minutes per day on muscle toning. The JLo toning routine uses Tracy Anderson’s Precision Toning workouts. Each workout spends time focusing on a specific body part each day. Jennifer Lopez is especially focused on toning her arms, legs, butt and abs.
So, each day the JLo toning routine uses a Precision Toning workout to focus on one of these areas. The key to the toning workouts is to incorporate as many muscles as you can. This helps burn fat, and avoid bulkiness from relying the same muscle too often.
JLo Arms Workout
The JLo arms workout aims to tone her arms, without adding bulk. By constantly changing her workouts up, Jennifer Lopez shapes her arms nicely, without bulking. Here’s her trainer doing the arms workout:
JLo avoids bulky arms by using light weights, and changing her routine constantly. Tracy’s goal is to get JLo’s arms more toned than ever before. It looks like the JLo arms workout is working:
Tracy Anderson says the key to the JLo arms routine is to focus on getting all her muscles to work together. Traditional power-lifters isolate muscles and work them to capacity to bulk them up. Tracy Anderson says this is the wrong approach for her ladies, who want long and lean, toned arms:
You’re actually making your muscles stronger. It’s also making [your arms] tinier. Were not isolating our large muscles. We’re getting them stronger, and having them all work out together. We’re getting really great skin tone.
